PT Journal AU Loub, K TI Petr Prachner (1744-1807), a Sculptor of Prague - His Study Travels Abroad and Contribution to the Decoration of the New Mint in Prague SO Pruzkumy pamatek PY 2023 BP 72 EP 85 VL 30 IS 2 DI 10.56112/pp.2023.2.06 WP https://pruzkumypamatek.cz/en/artkey/prp-202302-0007.php DE Petr Prachner - Ignac Frantisek Platzer - Johann Prachner - Baroque - Classicism - Prague - sculpture - academies of art SN 12121487 AB The article deals with the study travels of the Prague sculptor Petr Prachner (1744-1807) to academies in Amsterdam, London, and Mannheim as well as his work in Vienna. Prachner's academic training and foreign experience were later reflected in his sculpture decoration of the New Mint in the Old Town of Prague. Not only do the archival sources help to restore the operation of the sculpture workshop of Petr's father Richard Jiri Prachner (1705-1782) in greater detail, but they also correct our perspective on Prague sculpture art of the second half of the 18th century.
