The foundation of the church may originate from 1444; the overall appearance as well as details of the structure correspond to this date. The church reconstruction after the 1556 fire is recorded in literature. The church underwent major reconstruction at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries when a new truss was built as well as the main entrance Neo-Gothic staircase. Later reconstruction during the 20th century was rather devastating. At present, efforts are being made to rehabilitate the church and open it to the public. ER
