AB  - The article deals with the Marian chapel inside the compound of the Benedictine Monastery in Rajhrad. Built during 1748-1749, the chapel continues the earlier construction in the compound based on the plans of Johann Blasius Saintini-Aichel. Nevertheless, its artistic, iconographic, and partially also material composition represents an independent project that was most likely created by the new generation of artists and artisans. Although the chapel was repeatedly in disrepair in the past and has been at least twice substantially reconstructed, a large number of original elements and surfaces was detected that provide evidence about the original appearance and iconographic programme of this sanctuary.
