Gothic Parts of the Monastic Church of St Adalbert in Broumov
The article deals with the building form of the medieval monastic church of the Benedictine Provostry in Broumov resulting from the reconstruction of the monastery castle during the 14th century. The church was built in the southern part of the compound in the third quarter of the 14th century. The Baroque reconstruction defines its current look; the perimeter walls up to the window ledges and the western tower with a Late Gothic room on today’s first floor have remained from the medieval structure. For this space, the authors consider its original use for residential purposes. Later, it was adapted into a vault or archives. A large portal on the western side of the church stands out from the remaining architectural elements.
