Jakub Ďoubal, Karol Bayer, Petra Zítková

Průzkumy památek 2018, 25(2):3-14 | DOI: 10.56112/pp.2018.2.02

Between 2015 and 2017, the Faculty of Restoration of the University of Pardubice conducted complex research and restoration of the tombstone of Arnošt of Pardubice which is found in the parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kłodzko, Poland. The tombstone is an outstanding testimony of 14th century Gothic sculpture art. In the past, the artwork suffered extensive damage, and only survived in dismal fragments. The marlstone tombstone fitted on the red limestone tomb has never been restored by experts, and no material research has been conducted. Complex research and restoration has brought many significant findings which may help...

Petrographic examination of opuka-stone tombstone of Arnošt of Pardubice with specific focus on provenance determination of natural stone

Richard Přikryl, Martin Racek, Zuzana Weishauptová, Jiřina Přikrylová

Průzkumy památek 2018, 25(2):15-24 | DOI: 10.56112/pp.2018.2.03

Detailed petrographic study of two stone pieces taken from the figural tombstone of the first Prague Archbishop Ernst of Pardubice confirmed its similarity to highly porous, fined-grained sedimentary rocks from the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin (Bílá Hora Form.). This so-called opuka stone is composed of prevailing fine-grained silica with common, but variable admixture of carbonates and clay minerals, making intrabasinal component, supplemented with minor extrabasinal clastic component with fine- to medium-grained silt granulometry. Based on the results from analytical and observational methods, the stone is equal to the so-called "zlatá opuka" which...

Olšov Farmstead

Daniel Šnejd, Veronika Babická, Jiří Bloch, Jan Eliška, Jarmila Hansová, Michaela Špinarová

Průzkumy památek 2018, 25(2):25-50 | DOI: 10.56112/pp.2018.2.04

The residential section with assumingly a late medieval core in the form of the chamber block with a granary on the first floor and part of the hallway was the oldest structure in Olšov Farmstead. The subsequent building state bears a fragment of the sgraffiti decoration from the 1560 s-1590 s. During the first half of the 17th century, the house was expanded, and its façade was embellished with ornamental decoration. Simultaneously, a bounding wall was built to the south with an adjacent granary which was later expanded. The house is not part of the national heritage, and the structures have been dilapidated for a long time. Unfortunately, the current...

Sgraffiti of the 1950s. Mapping the occurrence, condition, attribution, and circumstances of socialist realism sgraffiti

Vladislava Říhová, Luboš Machačko

Průzkumy památek 2018, 25(2):51-64 | DOI: 10.56112/pp.2018.2.05

Using the sgraffiti technique in social realism architecture is understood as the consequence of the inspiration of creators by Czech Renaissance monuments. Although this course played an important role in the composition of facades highlighting the national tradition, the occurrence of sgraffiti on European facades was quite abundant. Blanket research of post-war sgraffiti in the Czech lands seeks to at least partly compensate the missing professional literature that would pursue this issue. With respect to the historical and handicraft value of the artwork, and taking account of the fact that they are part of national heritage buildings, the socialist...

Documentation of the Romanesque Masonry in the Interior of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Prague Řeporyje

Zdeněk Dragoun, Matouš Semerád

Průzkumy památek 2018, 25(2):65-75 | DOI: 10.56112/pp.2018.2.06

As part of the restoration of the church's interior in 2017, partly disclosed masonry of the Romanesque central-plan church in the western part of the Baroque sanctuary was revealed. A secondarily walled-up entrance opening was discovered for a staircase leading from the nave to the matroneum. While the ground plan of the early medieval structure was identified based on its recognised parts, attempts for spatial reconstruction are faced with multiple controversies. Profound building archaeological analysis may deliver a solution.

Malenovice castle - results of research carried out during the years 2017-2018

Radim Vrla

Průzkumy památek 2018, 25(2):76-86 | DOI: 10.56112/pp.2018.2.07

During 2017-2018, Malenovice Castle's extensive building secure system was implemented. The results of research helped specify and expand current knowledge concerning the building history of the castle. The eastern front of the core revealed masonry that was part of the disappeared structure, probably a tower from the period of the castle construction (second half of the 14th century). Interiors of a reconstructed structure were examined in the southern wing of the core; the structure's courtyard wall was additionally narrowed from the inside. The shape of the surviving windows and high-quality architecture decoration of the facades indicate that it...

Jan Štětina

Průzkumy památek 2018, 25(2):86-106 | DOI: 10.56112/pp.2018.2.08

Recapitulation of the current findings about the court section of the southern wing of the palace in the stronghold in Kurovice (Kroměříž district). The text is conceived as a detailed presentation of finding situations complemented with rich drawing and photographic documentation.

Táňa Šimková, Kamil Podroužek

Průzkumy památek 2018, 25(2):107-119 | DOI: 10.56112/pp.2018.2.09

The Hospital Church of the Holy Spirit is one of the oldest surviving structures within the organism of the historical development of the mining town Krupka. The foundation of the church may originate from 1444; the overall appearance as well as details of the structure correspond to this date. The church reconstruction after the 1556 fire is recorded in literature. The church underwent major reconstruction at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries when a new truss was built as well as the main entrance Neo-Gothic staircase. Later reconstruction during the 20th century was rather devastating. At present, efforts are being made to rehabilitate the...

Former benedictine Residence in Ostrovačice

Pavel Borský

Průzkumy památek 2018, 25(2):120-130 | DOI: 10.56112/pp.2018.2.10

The article presents new findings of the building history about the residence of the Rajhrad Benedictine Monastery in Ostrovačice. The history of the monastery says that the residence was built in 1718 based on the design of Jan Blažej Santini Aichel. It can be neither confirmed nor excluded that J. B. Santini made a design for the residence, yet it is more likely that the master mason František Benedikt Klíčník constructed the building based on his own design during 1723-1725. An earlier building, probably a granary, was included in the structure, forming the transverse eastern wing. In 1765, Provost Otmar Konrad founded a chapel in the residence....
