Log House in North Plzeň Region - New Field Research Findings

The North Plzeň Region is a traditional area of log and half-timbered houses. A numerous group of log structures, residential houses, cowsheds, storerooms, granaries, and barns has survived. The reconstruction in progress allowed learning more about some of the houses. From the research of selected structures, many joinery fillings of construction openings, i.e. windows and doors, were detected. Dendrochronology of wooden construction elements from the mid-18th century to the 1820 s significantly contributed to determine the dates of the researched buildings.
